Portland, OR – April 25, Regional Reunion Weekend. If you can’t make it back to UC Santa Cruz for the annual Reunion Weekend, then come join your fellow local alumni at the Hoyt Arboretum for a regional reunion event on Saturday, April 25, 2009. At this pioneering and enlightening event, you will hear an exciting lecture by polar explorer and glaciologist Professor Slawek Tulaczyk on what climate change means to our environmental destiny. Light refreshments, including wine from alumni-owned Quady North Vineyard in Jacksonville, OR, alumni-owned Broadley Vineyards in Monroe, OR, and beer provided through the generosity of Portland’s Widmer Brewery, will be served. To RSVP please call 1-800-933-SLUG or email URrecept@ucsc.edu.
Eatonville, WA – June 27 & 28, Slug Fest 2009. Each year Northwest Trek park hosts a slug fest. In 2009, UC Santa Cruz wants to participate. Outside of Santa Cruz, the Pacific Northwest is one of the only other places you'll find the banana slug, this festival offers us all an opportunity to celebrate this misunderstood mollusk.
